Barnet 3-1 Brent

MSFA Bower Cup
Saturday 2nd October 2015

Defending their unbeaten league record from last season, Brent lost their opening game at U14 3-1 away to Barnet. Barnet started strongly and had several attempts on goal in the opening 10 minutes; Brent were grateful to their goalkeeping David Krupinski who made some fine saves to prevent Barnet taking an early lead. Felix Amoah came close to opening the scoring for Brent on 12 mins when he cut inside and hit the underside of the Barnet crossbar after a fine run down the right wing.

Brent started having more possession midway through the first half and Dominic D’Souza, Drilon Krasniqi and Priyesh Bava all had attempts on goal that went wide whilst Barnet continued to look dangerous whenever they attacked but the first half ended scoreless.

Barnet started the second half on fire and within three minutes of the restart, Brent found themselves 2-0 down. Barely two minutes into the second period, Barnet scrambled the ball home after Brent did not clear the ball in their own 6 yard box. Barnet doubled their advantage a minute later when a corner was met by a thumping header. With Barnet threatening to score a third with every attack, Brent had to dig deep but they were back in the match 19 mins into the second half when they were awarded a penalty for a foul in the penalty area which was converted by Ray Lluka.

Brent’s chance of salvaging a draw disappeared four minutes later when Barnet scored their third with a shot from just outside the penalty area and Barnet dominated the closing minutes of the match and but were unable to extend their lead.
