Brent travelled to East London and blasted their way into the second round of the London Cup with an emphatic 5-1 win over Newham.
Brent started slowly but battled hard in the face of early pressure from the home side. As Brent came into the game, Naeem danced in behind the defence before squaring for Troy to slot home with finesse. The visitors grew in confidence and it was soon 2-0 as Armend buried a fierce free kick in off the crossbar.
After the break, the momentum stayed with Brent and a cross from Dhyan was slammed home by a fierce left-footed shot from Fabian. Armend then smashed home a scorcher from 20 yards before Brent scored the goal of the game. A slick 8 pass move, which was started by a reverse pass from Bernardo, eventually fell to Naeem who volleyed his shot into the bottom left hand corner. Newham pulled back a consolation goal on the stroke of full time. Beaming Brent coach Paul Woodford called his team's showing “A performance full of grit, determination and great passing, which looked as good as the scoreline ”
Brent face a home tie against Chelmsford in the next round.
