Brent gave themselves a great chance to win the inaugural Middlesex Schools' FA Subsidiary Cup thanks to an impressive win away to Barnet.
Playing in very strong winds, Brent started well as Deon Selmani shot against the crossbar. However Barnet took the lead with a quick breakaway down the left. Naeem Giscombe then made a run down the left and cut back for Danny Gobishavi Por Asl to equalise from close range. Danny turned provider as he squared to Deon to poke home and put Brent 2-1 ahead.
Brent were now in full flow and Armend Muslika pulled back the ball for Danny to slot home his second before Armend then set up Le’Kai Chevannes to shoot accurately into the top left hand corner. Brent went into half-time with a commanding 4-1 lead.
After the break Le’Kai turned provider to thread the ball, through for Naeem to make it five before Barnet pulled one back. Deon then played in Armend who drilled into the bottom right hand corner for 6-2. Barnet replied again with a smart finish but Danny slotted under the keeper to complete his hat trick for 7-3 before a well worked Barnet consolation.
Coach Paul Woodward described the match as “a tremendous performance both technically and tactically against very strong opposition. The boys are stepping up to the next level.”
