Creating a Safe, Respectful, and Inclusive Football Environment: Brent Schools FA’s Commitment to Addressing and Preventing Bullying

Brent Schools FA is committed to providing a caring, friendly, and safe environment for all members to enjoy football in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable, and the FA ensures that any incidents are dealt with promptly and effectively. As a “TELLING” club, Brent Schools FA expects anyone aware of bullying to report it to the Club Welfare Officer or any committee member.

What is Bullying?

  • Emotional: Exclusion, hurtful messages, or tormenting (e.g., hiding equipment)
  • Physical: Pushing, hitting, or any use of violence
  • Sexual: Unwanted contact or abusive comments
  • Discriminatory: Racial or homophobic remarks, or teasing based on disability
  • Verbal: Name-calling, sarcasm, spreading rumours
  • Cyberbullying: Using digital means (e.g., social media, texts) to upset or exclude someone
  • Trolling: Deliberately posting offensive comments online to cause distress.

Brent Schools FA’s Commitment

The club is dedicated to ensuring all communication is respectful and adheres to its safeguarding policies. It promotes safe online interactions and does not tolerate any form of bullying, whether on or off the field.

Signs and Indicators of Bullying

Children may show signs such as being unwilling to attend sessions, withdrawing socially, or displaying anxiety. If these signs are present, it is essential to investigate and support the child.

Preventing and Addressing Bullying

If bullying is suspected, incidents should be reported immediately. In severe cases, the County FA or police may become involved. Brent Schools FA ensures all members are aware of the club’s stance on bullying and the actions that will be taken to prevent it. Players, coaches, and parents are all part of fostering an inclusive, respectful community where everyone can participate safely.
