BRENT Girls Red Under-12 edged a tense cup final with a 1-0 win over LES to lift the trophy after a fiercely contested encounter:
Freya’s second-half strike proved decisive, while Bea’s outstanding goalkeeping secured a deserved clean sheet.
In a physical contest, Brent matched LFS throughout and prevented them from ever settling into rhythm. Brent began brightly Sophia stepped forward to test the goalkeeper from distance before Leonore’s driven effort earned a corner. From the resulting set piece, Freya reacted quickest to the loose ball and fired narrowly over: Leah marshalled the defence superbly, while Myla’s work in left midfield set the tone with strong ball-winning and composure on the ball. Mya linked play through midfield during a fiercely fought middle third, while Shayna provided defensive organ-isation alongside Leah as the first half ended goalless. The second half saw Freya return with renewed energy and Mya push into a more advanced role, combining neatly with Leonore to sustain attacking pressure. Bea produced a superb goal-line save before showing real bravery to deny LFS again as pressure mounted.
The breakthrough finally came from a quality corner delivered by Sophia, with Freya finding space to guide the ball home. Brent continued to battle for every ball, with Myla adding control in midfield and Shayna and Sophia contributing to a well-organised defensive unit alongside the ever-reliable Leah as Brent dug deep to secure a hard-fought and richly deserved victory.
