Brent’s U11 Girls’ squad enjoyed an emphatic win over Regents Park. The result reflected well on the group’s development as the last time the two sides met they produced a scintillating 2-2 draw.
Brent had their opponents under pressure from the earliest stages of the match. The Regents Park goalkeeper made a string of saves from Brent striker Owen before the inevitable breakthrough came after four minutes. Wales supplied the pass for Ingham, who opened the scoring.
After the first goal, Brent increased the pressure further. Debutante De Sousas Mantas marked her first call-up for the Association by dominating midfield and releasing Wales, who converted smartly for 2-0. Before the break Brent scored two more, both from Kennedy who was playing in a deep-lying midfield role.
The only negative note in the first half for Brent was the loss of top scorer Owen, who suffered an ankle injury.
With a strong lead, Brent made positional changes; Kennedy moved up front and was replaced by Redhead in central midfield.
The team were looking to keep a clean sheet, marshalled by the defensive partnership of Swaby and Hunn and Bulik in goal. The stopper was called into action several times, either clearing with her feet or smothering the ball safely.
Brent continued to dominate. Kennedy scored a further two goals taking her tally to four, while Ingham added a brace to complete her hat-trick with Roe on the wing supplying assists.
