Brent Schools’ FA’s U15 Girls’ tremendous run of form continued with a convincing win over Ruislip Rangers Blues at Capital City Academy.
The bright spring sunshine hid the fierce wind and Brent started the match strongly with the wind.
Brianna John-Etiko won the ball in midfield and passed to Chloe O’Donoghue to score the opener with a 25 yard dipper. Giuseppina Carnevale added the second with a fierce snapshoot after good work by Maddie Muir combining with Liv MacArthur and the half ended with Brent 2-0 ahead.
Ruislip started the second half brightly, hoping to capitalise on having the wind at their backs, but superb defending by Keely Dibley-Dias, Sophie Kew, MacArthur and Muir kept them at bay. The game opened up as both teams fought for the all-important next goal. Apollonia Margetson and Laiba Mir adapted to the windy conditions best and began to control the midfield.
Maya Rosenberg was pushed into attack giving Alisa Omeragic her debut on the right side of midfield. Omeragic had an excellent first game on that flank, winning the ball and passing well. Brent’s passing game was working well and an outstanding team goal gave them the crucial third goal.
Dibley-Dias played goal kick to Kew who coolly passed to Omeragic. She slipped the ball to Margetson in midfield who drove into the box and did a sharp one-two with Rosenberg before blasting the ball into the net. It was a goal of such quality that both sets of fans and coaches applauded. Ruislip continued to battle courageously but Carnevale ended any hope of a comeback. Racing down the left wing, she cut in and curled the ball into the top right corner. The excellent Ruislip goalkeeper could only watch it sail into the net.
Brent coach Chris Ampofo said: “What a brilliant game. The passing was fantastic, they all contributed and the quality of the goals was breath-taking”.
