A brave fightback was not enough for Brent's Under-14 squad, who eventually succumbed to a 6-2 defeat.
Brent were behind as early as the third minute when Hillingdon’s Luke Massingham headed home unchallenged in the Brent six-yard box from a free kick. Aamar Malik in the Brent goal made several fine saves but on 19 minutes Hillingdon increased their lead when Brent’s Priyesh Bava inadvertently headed an attempted clearance into his own goal from a throw in.
Brent rallied and in the 21st minute Ghellor Kweme was fouled in the penalty area and Dominic D’Souza scored from the spot. D’Souza almost equalised minutes later but saw his effort on goal well saved before Kahlil Francis scored direct from a 25-yard free kick that went in just under the Hillingdon crossbar two minutes before half time.
Brent started the second half strongly and were very unfortunate not to take the lead firstly when Felix Amoah’s ran down the right wing before cutting into the Hillingdon penalty area and seeing his shot palmed away before another Amoah effort was once again well saved. D’Souza also saw an effort just clear the Hillingdon bar.
Hillingdon took the lead once again from another header direct from a corner in the 49th minute. This time Brent were unable to rally and Hillingdon extended their lead in the 54th minute from the penalty spot for a push in the area and they scored their fifth when an effort on goal hit the post and was volleyed home. The visitors scored their sixth goal when a cross from the left across the Brent six-yard box was tapped home.
