Representative Teams Round Up, Saturday 8th October 2022

Brent U12 Girls 5-0 Camden Girls

Brent Schools’ FA’s Under-12 Girls continued their strong start to the Regent’s Park Youth League season with a hard-fought 5-0 victory over Camden Girls.

A bright start saw Brent create an early chance, Hannah Mondala unleashing a shot from the edge of the box which came crashing back off the post. Just a minute later she let loose with an almost identical shot, this time Mondala found the bottom corner. The opening goal was quickly followed up with two goals in two minutes by Charlotte Fraser with the second coming via the penalty spot; Freda Kelly was bought down after some good wing play. Ruby Halsby caused Camden problems with surging runs down the left wing as Brent continued to dominate the first half. Brent added two more goals before the break, thanks to a further strike by Mondala and Fraser completing her second hat-trick in successive games.

Camden regrouped and dominated the second half, creating chance after chance. Lauren Griffiths was brought on to shore up the midfield and the Brent defensive duo of Myla Villegas-Lewis and Sienna Varsani managed to keep them at bay. A couple of great saves by Oliver Ridley-Swettenham helped to earn Brent their first clean sheet of the season.

Brent coach Ramesh Varsani commented: “I’m very proud of the girls. This was a very physical, but fair game played in the right sprit which is testament to both teams”.

Brent: Charlotte Fraser, Freda Kelly, Hannah Mondala, Lauren Griffiths, Myla Villegas-Lewis, Olivia Ridley-Swettenham, Ruby Halsby, Sienna Varsani.
