Safeguarding Children – Brent Schools’ Football Association

Safeguarding Children

Committed to Safeguarding Every Child:
Creating a Safe and Supportive Football Community at Brent Schools FA

Brent Schools FA is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of every child and young person who participates in any of our football activities. We recognize our responsibility to create a safe, supportive environment where all children under the age of 18 can enjoy football free from abuse or harm. We proudly adhere to The FA’s Safeguarding Children Policy and Procedures, which emphasise the paramount importance of a child’s welfare. We believe that every young person, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, faith, or belief, has the right to be protected from abuse. We take all concerns seriously and respond swiftly to any suspicions or allegations of misconduct.

Working in partnership with children, parents, carers, and other organizations is essential to ensuring the protection of our young members. All adults involved in Brent Schools FA, whether volunteers, match officials, coaches, or staff, are required to follow The FA’s guidelines, including undergoing rigorous background checks and adhering to responsible recruitment practices. This ensures that those working with young people are suitably vetted and qualified, reducing the risk of abuse and promoting a safe, positive football experience.

Our Club Welfare Officer and Assistant Welfare Officers play an active role in promoting respect and safeguarding within the club, liaising directly with The FA and County Welfare Officers. They are also responsible for educating members about identifying and reporting any concerns regarding bullying, neglect, or abuse. Safeguarding is a collective responsibility, and Brent Schools FA encourages everyone—players, parents, coaches, and staff—to report any concerns promptly. Whether it’s a case of poor practice or a serious child protection issue, our club remains committed to taking immediate, appropriate action to ensure the welfare of every young person under our care.

At Brent Schools FA, we also promote The FA’s RESPECT Codes of Conduct for players, parents, officials, and coaches, ensuring a positive and respectful football environment. Safeguarding is not just a policy—it’s at the core of everything we do, ensuring that our young players grow, learn, and enjoy the beautiful game in the safest possible setting.
