U11 Girls beat MGA – Brent Schools’ Football Association

U11 Girls beat MGA

Brent U11 2 MGA 0

The Blue Tigers put on an execellent display in windy conditions at Regents Park.

Having gone down to 2-0 to United Dragons in the early fixture Brent were looking to improve and the girls showed great determinaton and team spirit, starting afresh in their second match of the day.

Brent started the game against MGA brightly. Debut girl Bella Fraser sprinted down the left wing cut in and fired inches wide.

MGA broke forward and Romy Lawson made a great tackle to foil the attack.Georgia Margetson began to control the centre of midfield, working box to box. Freda Kelly had an excellent debut marauding down the right. Brent were rewarded for their tenacity with a great team goal. Olivia Ridley-Swettenham passed to Lawson at right back. She threaded the ball to Margetson who found Kelly out wide. She passed the ball into the box and Eva Armit did the rest sprinting through to blast the ball into the net.

MGA turned up the heat as they searched for an equaliser but the strong defensive partnership of Lois Ampofo and Lawson supported by Swettenham in goal limited their opportunities. Brent extended the lead when Ampofo passed to the mercurial Fraser on the left. Fraser jinked inside her defender before making an inch perfect pass to Armit who accelerated through the defense and slotted a superb shot ito the net.

Brent introduced Bibiana Thomas to add some fresh legs and she worked tirelessly in defence as MGA pushed to start a comeback but the Blue Tigers stood strong and the score ended 2-0.

Brent coach Chris Ampofo said “The team showed real unity helping each other on the pitch. They are improving every week. It is an exciting time for girls football in Brent”.
