Brent 5-1 Croydon

Brent Under-11 Girls faced Croydon in the second match of their defence of the London League. Brent got off to the perfect start as Shakira Kafero-Roberts danced round three defenders and placed the ball into the bottom corner after just four minutes. Minutes later, Kafero-roberts doubled Brent’s lead with a looping header that left the Croydon keeper stranded.
After the break the match was a much tighter affair. Both teams were playing some excellent football but no one could find the net. With ten minutes remaining, the game suddenly sparked back into life after Croydon scored from an excellent in-swinging corner, setting up a tense final few minutes. However, Brent stepped up another gear and managed to score three goals in the final five minutes thanks to strikes from Nicole Njoku, debutant Isabella and Kafero-Roberts, who managed to seal her hat-trick.
Brent Coaches Joe Khalfi and Ronan O’Rourke commented, “It was great to see the girls play such effective and dominant football at this age. To not be affected by the goal they conceded, but actually use it as inspiration to kick on was unbelievable.”
