The Brent Under-12 boys squad claimed an emphatic Regents Park Youth League victory over Eagles United on Saturday. After a good start to the game, Brent scored early in the first half through Danny Gobishavi Porasl who ran on to a through ball and finished well into the top left-hand corner.
Gobishavi had several shots in the few minutes following the goal and was unlucky not to score another. The second goal was scored in the 20th minute. The ball was played out wide to Fabian Prela, who was involved in a good movement inside. This led to a shot which was blocked but Prela was able to retain possession and score from a deflection that looped over the opposition goalkeeper.
Another goal was added to Brent’s tally just two minutes later after Dhyan Sharma intercepted a goal kick, his shot was saved, then slotted in by Gobishavi on the rebound. Late in the first half, Eagles United conceded a penalty after taking down Gobishavi in the box. Dhyan Sharma converted the penalty with a calm finish to the ‘keeper’s right.
Both Gobishavi and Sharma were able to complete their hat-tricks in the second half, after scoring two goals each. Bernardo Zanuncio also scored, controlling the ball skillfully before firing into the top left-hand corner of the net. Joe Barrett was also able to score on his debut, hitting a calm finish underneath the goalkeeper. Brent keeper Zebiri scored a rare goal while playing outfield in the later stages of the game. The match finished with Brent winning 12-0.
Brent coach Chris Dutton commented: “The game was fairly even at first but when the team settled they showed their strength and skill. The players are working hard in training and were rewarded today with a good win”.
