Brent U12 Girls 5-0 Eagles United
Saturday 9th February 2019
Brent Under 12 Girls consolodated their lead in the Regents Park & Camden Youth League with an emphatic 5-0 win over third placed Eagles United at Regents Park on Saturday.
In windy conditions and on a muddy pitch, the Brent girls gave a superb passing performance. Brent went on the attack early in the game. Sophie Kew passed to Keely Dibley Dias who released Giussepina Carnavale who dribbled past her marker and released Chloe O’Donoghue, who launched a thunderbolt into the net to open the scoring.
Carnavale then dribbled down the left, cutting inside to play a one-two with striker Scout Waddington before blasting the return pass into the top corner to make it 2-nil.
Brent’s neat, one-touch passing was causing Eagles United all sorts of problems and they continued to dominate the match. Brent’s third goal was a replica of the second. Goalkeeper Milly May Blue started the move, finding Apollonia Margetson who passed to Carnavale to combine with Waddington before unleashing a fierce shot into the opposite corner to her first goal.
Brent rang the changes introducing Elizabeth Ulusele, Laiba Mir and Maya Rosenberg. The substitutes made an instant impact with Ulusele giving a pinpoint pass to Mir who switched the play to Carnavale. The Brent captain completed a spectacular hattrick and made the score 4-0.
By now, Brent were in total control and Rosenberg, who was having an outstanding game, did a Mo Salah style shimmy, dribbling past two defenders and slipping the ball to Margetson to complete the scoring. Brent are now 6 points clear of second place Queens Park Sharks with two games in hand and look to have one hand on the league title as they also have a better goal difference. Brent’s Norwegian UCFB coach Kjell Sung commented: “The girls have been working on their passing and combination play and it paid off today. I’m very proud of the players. It was a brilliant performance”
