Brent U13 Girls’ 0-1 London Bees
Brent’s Under-13 Girls were unable to capitalise on home advantage and were undone by a brilliant long-distance strike in an action-packed match with London Bees at Capital City Academy.
In gale-like conditions, Brent created chance after chance and pinned the Bees in their own half for long periods but could not find the net.
After weathering the early onslaught, London Bees began to improve and pass well but, like Brent, could not find a decisive strike. In the dying seconds of the game, that changed with an unstoppable Bees 25-yard drive into the top corner. The final whistle blew immediately after the restart. It was the first time that Brent had failed to score this season. Brent coach Chris Ampofo commented: “It was a very even game played in a great spirit by both teams. Credit to the Bees, that was a goal worthy of winning any game”.
Brent will hope to bounce back to winning ways when they face Regents Park this Saturday in a top-of-the-table Regent’s Park Youth League clash. The following week Brent host Denham United Girls in the Capital Girls Cup at Capital City.
