U13 Girls cruise through in Capital Cup

Brisden Wood 0-12 Brent Schools’ FA

Brent’s Under-13 Girls blasted their way into the second round of the Capital Girls’ Cup, notching up a record-breaking 12-0 win at Risden Wood. This game was played at Paringdon Sports club in Harlowand was an even contest in the early exchanges. Risden were solid at the back and contained Brent for 20 minutes.

The visitors got their breakthrough when Chloe O’Donoghue showed why she has been called up to the Middlesex Schools’ FA Representative Squad by controlling the ball on the edge of the box and then driving the ball low and into the net.

Brent captain Giuseppina Carnavale made the score 2-0, reacting first in the box to a rebound following a shot by Scout Waddington and then scoring a superb solo effort dribbling past two defenders before launching a thunderbolt into the to corner to make it 3.

Carnavale made completed her hat-trick with a smart finish, latching on to a through ball from Sophie Kew.

Brent’s passing was superb and set up their next goal. Laiba Mir passed to Keely Dibley-Dias whose slide rule pass found O’ Donoghue. O’Donoghue crossed and Carnavale arrived at the back post to smash the ball home for her fourth goal of the game.

Maddie Muir then sprinted down the left wing and cut in to score making the score 6-0 at half time.

Brent coach Kjell Sung asked the team to keep up the intensity after the break and he wasn’t disappointed. Muir released Brianna John -Etiko who passed quickly to Carnavale to score her fifth goal of the game and Brent’s seventh. Brent introduced fresh legs and Tirion Lewis scored a poacher’s goal after Sophie Kew’s long-range shot was parried to make it 8-0. Dibley-Dees then went close but her shot was saved and Muir slotted home (9). After this, Lewis dribbled into the box and unselfishly set up John-Etiko for a tap in. Pele Fakahau then released Maya Rosenberg who crossed to Lewis and she showed good feet, turning quickly to score. Lewis completed her hat-trick and Brent’s scoring by dribbling into the box and shooting.
