U13 Girls stun Spurs

Brent SFA 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Youth

Capital Girls’ League Division One, 4th February 2017

Brent U13 Girls displayed amazing skill and determination to defeat a confident and strong Tottenham Hotspur side. The game was open from the start and had some early drama as Noelani Agyeman saw her one-on-one saved only for the rebound to be cleared by a Spurs’ defender’s arm for a penalty. Brent missed the resulting spot-kick and had to rely on some heroic defending of their own by Jessica Kwayie and Jasmine Mainoo to stop Spurs scoring on the counter. Midway through the half, an accurate goal kick by Millie Glover found Agyeman on the half way line, who managed to dribble her way past four players before rifling home Brent’s first goal to give her side the lead at half time.

The second half was a much more cagy affair. Both teams were keeping possession well but not quite able to find the right ball in the final third. With 10 minutes remaining, Tyanna Tulloch managed to spin round her defender and latch on to a through ball midway inside Spurs’ half before taking a couple of extra touches and placing the ball in the bottom right corner for Brent’s second goal. Tulloch’s second and Brent’s third came just minutes later as quick throw from Jada Pollendine on the left once again released Tulloch through on goal who confidently finished off her chance and the match.

Coaches Joe Khalfi and Ronan O’Rourke commented, “To out play and out run a team as talented as Tottenham shows just how hard our girls work every week and how far they have come in the two years we’ve all been together!”

Team: Tyanna Tulloch, Jada Pollendine, Maya Pires, Jasmine Mainoo, Jessica Kwayie, Angel Acheampong, Millie Glover, Noelani Agyeman, Ciara O’Rourke.
