U14 Girls overpower Ickenham – Brent Schools’ Football Association

U14 Girls overpower Ickenham

Brent U14 Girls 11-0 Ickenham Youth Cobras

Brent’s opposition on Saturday were a depleted side but that should take nothing away from their emphatic 11-0 victory. But for some fine goalkeeping from the Cobras, the tally could have been more.

From the very start the team were threatening, and striker Brooke breached the defence with a shot just wide of the goal in the opening minute.

It was not long before the Brent forward probed again, this time converting from inside the box. This was the first of an outstanding seven goals in the match from Brooke (pictured, below, scoring one of those goals). The highlight was probably a beautiful chip over the goalie for her second.

The rest of the team visibly grew in confidence throughout the game, with wave after wave of attack battering their defence with all the relentlessness of the previous day’s Storm Eunice.

But it was not just a day for the forwards. The back three of Pele, Maia and Violet were rock solid in defence, barely giving the Ickenham forwards a look in. Goalkeeper Sara only had two touches of the ball all match, the first of which was an outstanding save of a curling shot from the edge of the box.

In midfield skipper Kate led the charge, showing real pace and energy to create more chances up front, as did fellow midfielder Sasha.

Holly, Liv and Christie all worked hard going forward, but were unlucky not to add to the goal tally.  Noor on the other hand bagged a brace of goals, the second of which from a very wide angle.  And a series of impressive attacking runs from Isabel were rewarded by two goals, taking the total scoreline to 11-0.

Brent coach Dylan White commented “I’m very proud of the the girls. This is their first season in the Capital Girls’ League and it’s great to see them rewarded for their hard work.”
