Brent take London Youth Games title!

The Brent Schools’ FA U14 Boys’ squad followed in some seriously illustrious footsteps on Sunday when they won the Gold Medal at the London Youth Games, becoming the first team from the borough to claim the title since Raheem Sterling represented Brent.

The London Youth Games football event is a small-sided tournament which opens with a group stage, from which the top 16 teams progress to the knockout phase.

This year’s event took place at Brunel University Sports Park. Having successfully navigated their group, Brent marched through the knockout rounds to earn the right to play Camden in the Final. Brent eventually took the title, leaving Camden with the Silver Medal. Hillingdon took the Bronze Medal.

With 33 boroughs participating, the London Youth Games is a hugely prestigious title to win and doing so is a major achievement. Coach Darius St Louis has worked very hard with the players to get them ready for the competition.

The Association congratulates the players and their coaches on winning the tournament, which is a fantastic end to the summer holidays for everyone involved.

Brent Schools’ FA Chair Chris Ampofo said: “Huge congratulations to the team. I know that when Darius began coaching the group two years ago, the London Youth Games was a competition he targeted, so we’re delighted that the players have claimed the Gold Medal. What a great start to the new season here in Brent!”
