Brent Schools FA recently hosted an FA Junior Football Leaders Award in partnership with Middlesex FA and Capital City Academy.
On the course, 20 talented young players from the borough were given an introduction to coaching, refereeing and supporting a team. The majority of the aspiring coaches play for the Brent Schools’ FA’s Representative teams at age groups from Under-12 to Under-16.
Brent Schools’ FA is trying to encourage the players to get coaching qualifications and become the schools, district and county coaches and referees of the future. The project was part-funded by the Brent Active Lifestyles team , which supports local Groups to give their volunteers the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge that could help them take their coaching career further in order to help more people become more active.
Brent Schools’ FA chair Chris Ampofo commented: “Most of the current Brent District coaches played for Brent. We want to find the next generation of coaches so that this tradition will continue.”
