Brent’s second Capital Girls League game of the season saw them travel to Twickenham to take on Hearts of Teddlothian. Brent came out firing, creating lots of early chances via Apollonia Margetson and Alaa Chliyeh, but Hearts absorbed this pressure well.
However, Sophie Kew unleashed an unstoppable 25 yard drive into the top corner to break the deadlock and put Brent 1-0 ahead.
Brent continued to pile on the pressure against the home side, but were caught out by a counter-attack as Hearts scored a well worked goal to equalise.
Brent did not let this set back ruin their momentum though and straight from the restart they continued to press the home defence. A great strike from Alaa from outside the penalty box could only be parried by the Hearts ‘keeper and Margetson reacted quickest in the box to slide the ball into the net just before half time.
Going into the second half, Brent led Hearts 2-1 and looked to be in control of the game as they pushed for the all important next goal. Despite their efforts, a third goal never came, and Hearts pounced on a loose ball to make the score 2-2. After this, Hearts began to apply pressure to Brent late into the game which was dealt brilliantly by the back four and Sara Khene in goal, which ensured Brent secured their first point of the campaign.
