St Robert Southwell were victorious in a tournament for Primary School boys teams hosted at Capital City Academy by The Brent Sports partnership in partnership with QPR.
Fifteen Brent schools participated in a fiercely competitive competition within the Brent district which saw St Robert Southwell beat St Joseph’s Harlesden on penalties in the Final.
It could have been so different as St Rob’s scored an injury time winner against Malorees which knocked them out in the group stages.
St Rob’s – who did not concede a goal in open play in 6 games – went on to beat Oakington Manor in the semi-finals and won on penalties against a determined St Joseph’s (Harlesden) team in the Final.
Coach Joe Pascoe of St Robert Southwell said “It’s just another reminder of fine margins, we were out of the competition until a last gasp goal against Malorees but the boys gained belief and confidence from that, which made a big difference.”
St Robert Southwell’s win means they have qualified for the Middlesex County Round of the national Pokemon Cup, which is organised by the English Schools’ FA.
