Princess Frederica 0-0 Byron Court
Princess Frederica won 2-0 on penalties
Brent Cup Quarter-Final
Princess Frederica School’s girls team booked their place in the Brent Cup semi-final in dramatic style, overcoming a strong Byron Court team in a tense penalty shoot-out.
Freds dominated the first half pinning Byron in their own half for long periods but could not find the net. The second half was more even as both sides battled hard to get the upper hand and the all important first goal. Although both teams came close, neither could break the deadlock and the match finished 0-0.
This took the tie to penalties. Freds went first and the shot was well saved by the Byron keeper. Byron’s first penalty went wide. Next up, Matilda Easterby placed a shot into the bottom corner. Byron’s next penalty was well hit but Maddie Muir dived down to her left and made a superb save. Now Freds had a chance to win the tie. Up stepped Amber Smith to launch an unstoppable thunderbolt into the roof of the net to clinch the win and put Freds into the semi-final for the first time in many years.
Princess Frederica now face Sinai in the semi final with the other semi-final being between St Southwell and Malories.
