Brent’s U11 Girls played three short matches against Ruislip Rangers at Capital City Academy, putting in good performances in all three games.
The day’s football was played in blistering hot conditions but was a great advert for the girls’ game. Brent Girls won the final game 1-0 to cap an exciting afternoon of action.
Tirian Lewis impressed up front for Brent as did Tammy Nathanial who started in goal. Rangers were a constant threat on the break but the Brent defensive partnership of Keely Dibley-Dias and Elizabeth Ulusele were outstanding in keeping them at bay. Brent scored the winner with a super team goal. Dibley-Dias broke from defense and released Maya Rosenberg, whose neat pass released captain Guissepina Canevale on the left wing. Carnavale dribbled passed two defenders before launching an unstoppable drive into the top corner.
After that Rangers continued to press and only a superb double save from Rosenberg prevented the equalizer and enabled Brent to clinch to a well-deserved win having been edged out 1-0 and 2-0 in the two preceding matches, which were both close fixtures.
Brent coach Chris Ampofo commented afterwards: “What a game! The players worked really hard and played some good stuff against a really good Ruislip team. They are improving all the time. I’d like to thank Ruislip Rangers as the games were played in a great spirit. I’d also like to congratulate young referee Jaevon Braithwaite who handled the games brilliantly”.
