The season may be coming to a close, but several of the Brent Schools’ FA Representative Teams have the opportunity to claim silverware for the district.
On Saturday 14th May, the Under-11 Boys blasted their way into the semi-final of the London Schools’ FA Lester Finch Trophy by beating South London 8-1 away from home. The team now face Orpington at Douglas Eyre Sports Centre, Walthamstow this Saturday, 21st May, with a 10.30am kick-off.
The Under-11 Girls were at Wembley Stadium for The FA Women’s Cup Final but return to action on Saturday 21st May with a home match against Barking & Dagenham in the Super Six stage of the London Girls’ League. A win or a draw in this match would clinch the championship for Brent with a game to spare, although even if Barking & Dagenham do emerge victorious, a win away to Woking in their final match would still enable Brent to claim the title.
Also chasing a trophy are the Under-16 team, who have reached the London Schools’ FA Cup Final for the second consecutive season. They will play Havering at Dagenham & Redbridge FC on a date to be confirmed.
In other matches, the Under-12 Boys finished the season in some style coming back from 2-0 down to beat champions Hillingdon 3-2 away on Wednesday 11th May.
Two goals from Wiktor Wachala and a superb performance from keeper Yashil Kamdar put Brent’s Under-15 team on the verge of a comeback against Barnet but they went down 3-2 at home. That left the team with a single match to play against League Champions Camden & Islington, who proved too strong for the challenge from Brent.
