Brent Schools’ FA hosted their annual awards event at Capital City Academy on Friday.

The Association, which was founded in 1966, was joined by special guests Claire Clottey from the Young Brent Foundation and John McDermott from Watford FC Ladies academy.

Keith Gussy Young was presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award for an incredible 37 years of volunteer coaching. He steps down this year. Other highlights included the victorious Brent U13 Representative Team who won the Middlesex Schools’ FA Compton Cup and Brent Girls who have won eight trophies in two seasons.

Brent Schools’ FA chair Chris Ampofo commented “It is important to recognise the players achievements. Brent is full of talented young people. We need more coaches, especially women to support the girls teams as girls football is booming.  If the Lionesses do well at the Euros the girls game will continue to grow even faster.

“Experience is important but the main thing we look for is enthusiasm and commitment. We can give volunteers some technical and financial support to help aspiring coaches get coaching qualifications.”
