Brent’s U11 Girls squad were seeking to pick up a third successive win in the Regent’s Park Youth League on Saturday when they took on MGA, a recently formed team playing their first season together.
With Brent fielding a strong, well-drilled and in-form team, the match proved to be a one-sided contest. The first half saw Brent take a commanding 7-0 lead, with Kennedy scoring the first and midfield dynamo Nancy Wales scoring 5 before Owen scored her side’s final goal of the first half.
The second period continued in the same vein with Brent determined to keep the pressure on and MGA desperately trying to keep the score respectable.
Brent finally found an opening after 5 minutes of strong defending by MGA and this opened the floodgates. Wales scored three more goals, Owen added another four and Kennedy netted after multiple assists to increase her tally to two. The final goal saw Corbett scoring her first goal of this season as Brent completed a 16-0 victory.
