Brent shine in Regents Park

Brent Under U11 Girls 7-1 MGA

Brent’s Under-11 girls produced another commanding performance in the Regents Park Youth League. A fluid, passing style of play was rewarded with a slew of goals, producing a scoreline that reflected the team’s efforts.

Charlotte Fraser opened the scoring in the first two minutes of the match, followed by a solo effort from Evie Pillar who tore through the defence.  Shortly after that, a corner produced from an attack from Nancy Wales , gave Edie Morgan the opportunity to drive home a third.

MGA fought bravely and played well. After going three goals behind, they fought their way back into the game and had a good spell. They launched a number of incursions into the Brent half and were rewarded with a goal from a fine shot that cannoned in off the post.

Brent immediately replied with a goal from Nancy Wales straight off the restart, which was the first part of an impressive hat-trick from the winger.

The Brent defence held their position well, committed early to tackles, and quickly turned over whatever possession MGA managed to gain thanks tp rock solid defence from Minnie Palmer, Sienna, Myla Lewis Villegas, and a fine debut performance from Olivia Ridley-Swettenham.

Eva Armit who relentlessly harried the opposition with a series of threatening incursions, only narrowly missed the opportunity to convert.

In the second half, Charlotte Fraser’s through ball by a fine volley from Marnie Keam George from inside the box to produce the fifth Brent goal.  Nancy Wales’s impressive second and third came from an excellent passage of midfield play, including a beautifully aimed cross from Evie Pillar.

Final score: Brent 7, MGA 1.

Brent coach Andrew Pillar said after the match: “We have been working really hard in practise on possession, passing and movement off the ball, and I was delighted to see that hard work beginning to pay off in matches – we have a long road ahead, but I’m excited to see where this team can go!”
